After Lady Gaga teased that 'someone legendary' would be producing her Born This Way track 'You and I,' it appears that someone is Mutt Lange.
According to GagaDaily.com, the song is being helmed by Lange, the renowned producer, who has created hits for the likes of Maroon 5, the Jonas Brothers, Britney Spears, Celine Dion, the Backstreet Boys and his ex-wife, Shania Twain. (A rep for Gaga had not responded to MTV News' request for comment about the reported collaboration at press time.)
Lady Gaga has been putting the finishing touches on BTW, revealing over the weekend on Twitter, 'The Haus of Gaga is in full fledged factory mode. Born This Way album cover is finished, + monsters she is glorious.' Gaga also teased an upcoming installment of Gagavision to drop on Tuesday.
The pop star has been playing live versions of 'You and I' for some time now. She debuted the track at Elton John's White Tie and Tiara Ball last June. At the time, she tweeted that the track was 'written in NY on the piano I grew up on.'
The midtempo breakup track soon became a staple of her live show, where she routinely busts it out mid-Monster Ball, sitting at her piano. On it, she sings, 'It's been a long time since I came around/ It's been a long time, but I'm back in town/ And this time, I'm not leaving without you.' The track then crescendos into a lament about this 'cool Nebraska guy' she once loved so much.
Lange joins an ever-growing list of producers on Gaga's May release. It has already been confirmed that RedOne (who produced her second single, 'Judas'), Fernando Garibay and DJ White Shadow (the pair co-produced 'Born This Way,' among other tracks) are all working on the album.
